Sunday Funday: Accumulation Station

Ah, I didn't get much accomplished this last week, did I? I spent the majority of it worrying about an assignment that I put off too long. @_@ (And it was only a rough draft, ffs.) That, and this weekend consisted of a wedding, mom time and World of Warcraft with the boyfriend. There aren't enough days in the week for all this stuff! But I figured I'd give you a run down on the posts I'm currently working on!

Oops: An Update!

Somehow, I managed to fall off of the planet. School has started and, even though I'm only taking 1 three hour class, my equilibrium has proven itself to be the most fragile of wienies. But I'm slowly getting back on that academia bicycle and looking to get back into a normal routine. More than that - I'm working on a schedule for more regular and consistent posting! Like, writing shit down and everything. We'll see how that turns out. @_@ I have a few posts up my sleeve already. (Some from my swatch-fest back in... July.) It's just a matter of getting those fuckers finished.

As for my low/no-buy plans. I murdered them. I straight up dragged my budget into a dark back alley, shanked it and took all of it's belongings. Thank you, Hello Waffle sale. And now, to keep things from getting any worse, I'm writing up wishlists in order to sate my sparkle/fragrance lusts. Hopefully I can turn it around into something positive!

That's really all I've got! Figured I'd jump in quick to let you know I'm still alive.

Shiro and the Ever-Accumulating Samples

To break up the monotony of a lot of these collection posts I figured I'd shake things up with some random Shiro samples/minis! These were accumulated over several orders over the past however long and I figured they needed a little attention.

*All swatches are over Too Faced Glitter Glue in indoor, indirect afternoon light.*

Chimera from the Fullmetal Collection

A complex and unique blend - looks coppery in the jar, then applies as tarnished gold and silver shimmer over a blackened background.

Who doesn't love Chimera? I've received this as a sample before and quickly made my way through most of it. (I say 'most' because I seem incapable of finishing anything.) It's fantastically complex which makes for a super easy 'one eyeshadow' sort of look. It reminds me of a warmer version of Femme Fatale's Prismo.

I'll Move That For You from the Randomly Generated Collection

Blackened amethyst with bright purple sparkle.

My collection of eyeshadows that resemble tiny jars of nebulae continues to grow and grow and I don't even feel bad about it. I'll Move That For You has a matte base so using a sticky primer can be a bit tricky but definitely worth all those glitters.

It's Mossy! from the Randomly Generated Collection

Complex green-blue-grey, lightly metallic, over a black base.

It's Mossy! is much brighter applied than it looks in the jar. I'd say it makes a good 'office-safe' green while still packin' a bit of oomph. And, as always when it comes to green with a minty tone, I'll be pairing this with a lot of browns. Because who doesn't want to be an Andes Mint?

Ditto from the Super Effective Collection

Medium soft pink with a satin finish.

A super bright pop of pink! As fun as this is, Ditto isn't a color that I find myself reaching for all that often. The satin finish leans pretty metallic - I probably would have preferred it be a bit more matte.

Kooloo-Limpah! from the Legends Collection

Satiny peach with green and red sparkles.

I love, love, love this one. It's an easy one-and-done type of eyeshadow but the red and green sparkles keep it interesting. I'm sure you can tell that anything that looks amazing while still allowing me to be incredibly lazy is a winner in my book.

Heart Attack from the Notebook Collection

Deep maroon with blue shimmer.

Heart Attack is a lovely burgundy/maroon but those blue sparkles just make it. Hnngg, it's marvelous.


Just somethin' short and sweet to get us through the middle of the week! Also, I will just point out that all of these shades are lip-safe. Digest that for a minute. I'm dying from curiosity at the thought of a sheer Chimera gloss. Or an opaque gloss of Heart Attack~ Excuse me while I cry over my empty wallet and dream.

Accumulation Station and the Great July No-Buy

I feel like I neglect this blog terribly so I figured I'd pop in for a quick update and perhaps give you a brief glimpse into the future!

Having lived in my apartment for about 6-7 months, I suppose it's time to finally try and fill it with furniture as opposed to stacks of boxes. You know, like an adult would. Of course, this will put a bit of a strain on my finances so I figured I'd do my very first, big girl, no-buy through the month of July. (Or extreme low-buy because... c'mon.) Will I struggle? Yes. Will you? Not at all. I have accumulated so much stuff that I could go on a no-buy for months and never want for things to swatch. I may be able to pound out most of my planned posts this next month however because guess who's got a week long staycation coming up~ This bitch here! Ooohh yes. So, besides furniture shopping and so much day drinking, I will hopefully be swatching/blogging like a madwoman. So look forward to:

• Siren Song Cosmetic's Distant Worlds Collection
• Shiro Cosmetic's The Avengers Collection
• A Mega Haul from Hello Waffle consisting of 3 whole collections and various extras!
• A handful of samples from Limnit Lipsticks Grand Reopening (Depending on when they're delivered.)
• Various Darling Girl petits that have been sitting here unswatched forever.
• My Pretty Zombie Blush Samples (Also forever neglected.)
• Shiro's Tributes and Seven Kingdom Collections (I've had these for a while but they deserve time in the spotlight.)

I also have a few collection-centric lookbooks in the works so hopefully those pan out! Scanning over everything, perhaps I'm biting off more than I can chew but my goal is to get as many of these posts done as possible. Weather permitting, of course. Seriously, it's like monsoon season here in the great Midwest and it's been dark and stormy every freakin' day. However it works out I hope I don't disappoint!
